Would you still recommend copying him? Or should I look for another PI to copy? I'm a complete amateur and, hence, I'm totally irritated by this great loss of money. friedchicken: I have a question (might be a dumb one cause I'm new) if I allocated $500 and made $100 of profit so now I have an equity of $600. Do I close my position and reinvest my $600 to make more profit or is it all the same if I didn't?

Trader George: Hi Tom, nice video! Thanks for recording it, and without the bracelet :D Thought I'd jump in here and reply to some of the questions you asked. I know you posted on eToro, but I'm afraid I'm unable to locate your comment... *Amount to copy with*: The vast majority of my trades will not be smaller than 0.5%, so you're right that $200 could just about work. However, I often close trades only partially, to take some profits but leave the rest of the position to run. So I may close half or a third of a 0.5% trade and I'm not exactly sure how that copies through to a tiny copy. Ideally you want that partial close (0.15-0.25%) to equate to at least the minimum 1$ size, which takes us up to about a $500 minimum. So I often tell people that $500 should work fine, but the reason I encourage something closer to $1,000 is twofold. 1. There needs to be some room for drawdowns. If you start with $500 and we drawdown 10% you might then be back in that awkward territory where I'm not sure if all trades are being opened and closed properly. 2. As you mentioned with your 20% of $200 example, I want people to copy with an amount that is meaningful to them, so they can appreciate the gains and take it seriously, while also not investing an amount that is too big and scares them. I've found that the sweet spot for most people seems to in the $1,000 range. To recap, you should aim for $500+ if that's an amount you are comfortable with, and if possible closer to $1,000. If you prefer to start smaller, there will be some deviations from my returns, but it will still be highly correlated, probably 0.8+ *Trade duration*: I used to have a pretty long term approach, holding trades for 3-6months+, more value focused as I mention in my bio. The reason you see almost all my trades dating back to march is because of the whole virus situation. With that kind of macro event, it's inevitable that you're going to have to adjust. I closed the majority of my long term holdings and switched to a shorter term and more technically focused approach to profit from the move down. I believe being nimble is really crucial for long term success! I'll keep adjusting as we go, and once I feel we're reaching a bottom I'll start to switch back to longer term value. *What happened in 2018 / questions around SL/drawdowns*: Back in 2018 I was mostly trading for myself, my copiers were only 100 or so. My natural tendency is to trade quite aggressively, and unfortunately when there was that big dip on the S&P in early 2018 I went too aggressive. I longed it hard, and I was right that it was going to rebound, but unfortunately my timing was a little off and my leverage too high, so I got stopped out. Back then eToro was also more of a side gig as I had very demanding full time jobs. Things are very different now, as I started trading full time in late 2019. I now risk no more than 1% (in terms of max loss) on any individual trade and have much stricter risk management in general. I'm also able to monitor the markets basically 24/7 as I no longer have a corporate job. I take it much more seriously as I'm very much aware that I'm managing over $12M of 10.000 people's hard earned money. If I have a drawdown I will keep decreasing position sizes and risk until things start to turn around - avoiding a large drawdown is really number 1 priority now. The figure of 15% you mentioned aligns pretty well with my max risk plans. Hope that clears up most of your queries, let me know if not. His trades are open a long time, coz he gets cash flow paid by etoro for all his copiers.( 2% per AUM for each copier ) so he doesn't have to be on it. Alexis Kasparis: I copy MisterG for 2 months now, very good trading community on facebook and weekly lives with Q & A's. As a beginner in trading I have learned allot through his facebook group and his discord. I am following him with 580 usd but unfortunately he hasn't turned any profit yet for me which to be honest is absolutely fine and understandable as I am planing to copy him long term. Overall I am very happy with George and the way he explains everything to his copiers. Good luck with everything and let me know what you decide. My advice is for long term George is a winner and his strategy will pay off in the long term.

Kristaps: I literally read/predicted market trends better than him, although i have been studying stock market for about month only. He is too passive, doesn't react to news, for example, berkshire hathaway annual meeting. It was clear to sell (short) US airline stocks, he didn't do shi*. I uncopied him after short time, he was loosing money and as far as i saw what he was doing, i don't see any opportunities to gain capital in future with him.

riccardo: his maximum drawdown was around 34% in 2018 and the maxDD duration was nearly a year!! but "A portfolio that boasts smooth gains of 1% per month over a 5-year period that has a maximum drawdown of 30% should produce a red flag.  On the other hand, a fund that is generally volatile and produces a large maximum drawdown tends to reflect the tail risk of this volatility. The maximum drawdown is not a perfect measure of risk as it is time dependent. The longer a track record of an investment manager the more likely that maximum drawdown will be significant. Drawdown frequency, as well as the size of the drawdown also needs to be considered. Additionally, a maximum drawdown is a backward looking event, but it can give you an idea of the manager’s appetite for risk. "

James: Hi Tom, beautiful view behind you. I think he rebalanced his portfolio after the market dropped. He started shorting before the drop and then after it he took profits on those trades but then started hedging the remaining/new shorts with gold, crypto and stocks he thought would do well at this time (amazon, microsoft, netflix and pharmaceutical stocks) to lower his risk. He said on one of his streams recently that now he’s had an increase of copiers he is minimising his risk, he did also say that a lot(possibly all) of his trades have stop losses/trailing stop losses which he sticks to. That measuring tool on etoro looks quite handy, i’m going to have to use that.

Alan Smith: I have copied with $1200 but I always trade outside US hours so I can 'kill' the trades I'm less keen on.

Kiril Baykov: Just a point - if you copy someone with $200 and he makes 10% drawdown, any new trade below 0.6% won`t be copied (0.6% * 180 ~ 1.08USD) and etc. so if his max. drawdown is 10% and min. position size 0.5% you need to copy with at least 220 USD in order to get in all of the trades :).

Dan: there are good investors / traders and he seems to be volatile but good over the long run; however, there are EVEN BETTER traders on EToro, including harshsmith, jaynemesis (when viewed long term) and geofflee; I would never stop copy all of a sudden when a trader has a large drop, instead use Pause Copy to exit over time if a trader disappoints and even then I would first judge the last few years of activity, not just one month of -20%; however I would expect a strong trader to largely avoid something like the market drop we just had

Jimmy K: I've recently lost about $170 on MisterG23 for around 2K I've invested on him for a month and the losses keep rising. Why? One particular reason is he tried to short Tesla at around $500 where Tesla was already at 850 at that time. He left it losing money for weeks. He also tried to short hotels, cruises, without considering the FED pumping money causing the stocks to rise up. Better learn to trade or invest long term.
